Menu Item Summary Heading NOS 1960's TISSOT (Swiss) 'Seastar' Ref. 41-42569-01 Sport Watch - Tissot Cal. 781-1 Item Main Description From the late 1960's to very early 1970's, a super cool NOS Seastar sport watch from TISSOT with its original bakelite box, that has been professionally inspected by Localtime. The stainless steel case has not been polished, houses a manual wind 17j Tissot Cal. 781-1 and measures in at 36mm or 38mm including the logoed crown at 3h. The stunning orange tritium dial, indices, bezel and hands are stunning. It is wearing its original steel Milanaise bracelet. I have included many photos, including some closeup snapshots I took just for fun, to allow you to enjoy the lovely details of this fine timepiece. A stunning watch from any angle you look at it!As with all the watches that are handled by Localtime, the BIN price includes a written 6-month written warranty from the date of purchase. Feel free to contact me for whatever questions you might have.Extra: Try my Localtime Canvas straps! I have found them to be of a very good value and a great match especially for sport watches or chronograph watches that will combine well with this style of straps. Their colour is black and they come in 4 sizes [18-20-22-24mm] and 7 colours of contrast stitching. Their length is approximately 100mm on the buckle end [including the steel buckle] and 120mm on the tail end; so not short but not too long either. They are nicely padded, measuring 5mm thick at the lug end and they taper down to 3.50mm at the tail end. They have two keepers, one of them is fixed and the other one is floating. I have included many photos when you scroll down, so you can get a better idea of what you are ordering. A good quality pair of spring bars is included with each strap. Feel free to contact me for whatever questions you might have.Important Note: Sometimes I am asked what I exactly mean with ‘professionally inspected by Localtime’. Here is my theory on vintage watches: as a purveyor of vintage watches, my effort is to always do only what is needed to the watch. I do not buy ‘junk’ watches to resell. I am choosy with my purchases and always sell watches that are, to my knowledge, authentic and in good condition. I first inspect the watch, both visually (cosmetically) and then mechanically. If I judge that the watch is not yet in need of a full service then I do not put the watch through a service which, by the way, entails a lot of risks too. Instead, I give it what I call my ‘Spa’ treatment which will include a cleaning, changing of gaskets, oiling, lubricating and mechanical testing. If the plexi is heavily scratched or discoloured and it can not be cleaned, I change it. If the crown is wrong or worn, I also change it. Now, if the watch is in need of a full service, then my ‘professionally inspected’ description becomes ‘professionally serviced’. In both cases, I include a written warranty with my buy it now price and I always describe what I have changed, if anything, on the watch.Important Note On Straps/Bracelets: The straps I use on my watches [leather, canvas, suede, rubber] are always brand new, unless otherwise mentioned and, in most cases, I also sell them separately in my store, in different colours and sizes. In the case of metal bracelets, if the watch is NOS, the bracelet is also unused. If the watch is pre-owned with its original bracelet, then the bracelet is also pre-owned, unless otherwise mentioned. Either way, if in doubt, please ask. Please contact us for whatever need arises or any questions that you might have. See the tabs below to read more about our policies. About Me I was born and raised in Cyprus, a small island in the Eastern Mediterranean, now a member of the European Union. My studies took me to Switzerland, the USA, Germany, and England. I did not, as you might think, study to become a watchmaker but rather a hotelier. As such, I spent most of my professional life as a hotel manager. Since 2009, I have pursued my (then) hobby of collecting watches and have made a new career from restoring and selling vintage timepieces.  Over time, I have actually come to understand that watch restoration and hospitality have a lot in common. In both instances, I have found myself taking care of people or products that were with me for a brief period of time. As a hotel manager, I was content at the end of a visitor’s stay in my hotel when they would give me a warm smile and an appreciative farewell. Much like then, I find myself doing the same with watches when, after whatever care they might need, I bid goodbye to them as they head out to their new home.I love what I do and I take pride in doing it the best way possible in order to maintain the original integrity of each vintage timepiece. Feel free to contact me if you would like to buy one of my watches or even sell one of yours. I would also be happy to hear from you if you would like to have a watch restored. Be it a family heirloom or one from your collection, my colleagues and I will do our best to return it to you healthier than when it got to us.Friendly regards, Andreas.
